Abstract:
This layer contains the locations of all rushland identified and classified through analyses of an aerial photograph flown January 2000. Area size is given as an attribute. This is the overall rushlands distribution layer. For locations and areas of component species, look at the layers: lesi.shp, jukr.shp, lesi-jukr.shp, _pldi-lesi.shp, _pldi-lesi-jukr.shp, _fear-jukr.shp. |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

Vegetation cover data from the Cawthron Institute were created as part of a larger dataset for their 2000-2002 study: Estuarine Environmental Assessment and Monitoring: A National Protocol (released 2002).
Broadscale Mapping Methods are described in general for all estuaries but no specific details are given for the Avon-Heathcote estuary on the scale, resolution, groundtruthing etc applied.
